The Government of India established the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme in 2016 to promote apprenticeship in India. The government provides financial support to organisations that offer apprenticeships.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) created the NAPS programme to proactively produce and expand skilled personnel in India. The apprenticeship programme includes fundamental on-the-job training in a firm. NAPS was created with the goal of providing apprenticeship training to more than 50 lakh young people. The program’s primary goal is to develop and support apprenticeship culture by increasing apprentice participation in the micro, small, and medium-sized companies (MSME) segment in order to increase productivity.
At Vidya Vahini, we aggressively promote the NAPS initiative and provide training opportunities for people seeking apprenticeships. We strive to assist our clients from various industries by providing skilled apprentices to become part of their workforce and contribute value to the organisation.
Employers who offer apprenticeships will be reimbursed for 25% of the prescribed stipend, up to a maximum of INR 1500/- per month per apprentice.
The Government of India reimburses businesses up to INR 7500/- per apprentice (including training costs) based on INR 15/- per hour for a maximum of 500 hours or three months. This is for new apprentices who have had no official training.

The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme is a Government of India effort to promote apprenticeships. The government provides cash compensation to organisations that promote and implement NAPS.
Typically, in a NAPS programme, an employer hires a trainee as an apprentice and trains them for 6-36 months, during which time the trainee acquires the skills required to perform the function in the organisation. The government reimburses the employer 7500/- for each apprentice in their organisation. Throughout the apprenticeship, the trainee receives a minimal salary.
